The day is quiet and there sleeping children and these boxes of Legos strewn about our Christmas tree and the thought crosses my mind, “Could I ever get away with just re-gifting those?” And I smile silly at the thought. Then my thoughts turn toward Jesus. He is the only present you can give away again and again, always new and never old.

Jesus is the gift you can keep passing out, because He is the only Bread of Life that never runs out.

His disciples pass out the bread and do they come up empty? No. They come up full to the brim. You keep giving away Jesus and He keeps multiplying grace, keeps the miracle alive and right here at the end of the year, right here on the edges of all things Christmas we find our new beginnings in Him. We can still give Him away and He is the very gift everyone needs.

There’s a bit of sunlight and some old boxes of Legos and Jesus attends a wedding and makes old wine barrels brim brand new. You may run out of time. You may be short on money, but you cannot run out of God this Christmas. And He is the very best thing you can give away.
