Imagine if meditating on our own words has the power to transform us…what would a living Word do? What if we thought God’s own flawless Word a full year long? A flawless Word…is that how He is able to say…
He sent His Word and healed them, and saved them from all their destructions. Psalm 107:20
Because what you think about in one way or another works its way out into your life. Because what you meditate on really does determine who you become.
And if you’ve been wild enough to take this crazy-grace challenge called Memorize 365, you need to know…you may be healed. That’s just what happens when Jesus speaks and you open up your life to receive Him. Every broken thing in your heart and mind, well, it gets made whole.
When God’s thoughts become your thoughts you spin out of cycles of sin into the crux of His grace…
He washes us in the water of His Word. He washes us and we gleam like snow. It isn’t a polar vortex blowing in this time…it’s the Spirit removing our sin.
So, we memorize. Whatever passage you have chosen..love it well, love it deep…because you keep what you love. Keep on reading it. Choose a time everyday to pray through it. Breathe in (memorize) what Christ breathes out (the Word)! And this week, we begin.
Our method is simple. It’s a mental exercise that may yield richness if our aim is Jesus. Here are a few particulars.
Memorize verbatim. Word for word. Don’t skimp…Repeat, repeat, and then repeat it OUT LOUD some more.
If you ever feel like you’re getting flustered, overwhelmed…remember the goal is JESUS and you only have to memorize one verse at a time, just one. That’s how you memorize a passage. That’s how you invite a discipline of grace into your life.
This week you will be committing 3 to 5 verses and your rhythm will be a M/W/F schedule 1 verse a day or a Monday through Friday schedule 1 verse a day. Let your memorizing take a rhythm…you can do this differently…there’s no one way, except we must go His way. If you are keeping a M/W/F shcedule, consider reviewing on T/Th; stay immersed in your passage.
Later this week, I hope to visit with you by video message! Stay in the Word. And remember even if you’re not participating in Memorize 365 you are so welcome here! I am the happiest girl in the world to just be the teeniest part of the beautiful week, mixed with trials and joy, that the Lord has set for you!
